同製品は、2008年12月3日に低音域用と高音域用の2つの高性能ドライバを搭載したインイヤー式ヘッドフォンとして発表され、2008年12月10日から販売が開始されました。

2013年02月15日にリモコン部分のデザインを変更した改良型「Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic (Early 2012)」が発売されました。
