CP+2013に、静電容量式タッチパネルメーカーの大手である、台湾TPKが出展し、小型製品から大型テレビ用までの静電容量式タッチパネル展示を行っていました。

TPKの静電容量式タッチパネルは、初代iPhoneからiPhone 4Sまで採用されていて、iPhone 5は同社の製品ではないと説明していました。

TPK担当者に、日経ビジネスオンラインが分析したように、Appleの特許番号4741026に示されているApple独自特許製品なのかと質問したところ、その通りで、同社では特許の関係上製造しておらず、LGディスプレイなどがOEM生産を行っていると説明していました。

ただ、技術としては良いが製造が難しく歩留まりが良くないため、TPKが独自に持っているX軸Y軸をクロスすることで高い性能を出せる特許技術をAppleに売り込みすることで、同社が再び生産を獲得出来るようアプローチしているそうです。

また、iPadとiPad miniのタッチ液晶パネルもTPKが生産を行っていて、iPad miniのフレーム部分を細くする技術はかなり難しいことだったようです。

As the Nikkei business on-line analyzed the TPK person in charge, when it questions whether to be the Apple original patent products shown in the patent number 4741026 of Apple, it is just like that,I did not manufacture on the patent relationship but the company explained that LG graphic display etc. were performing original-equipment-manufacturer production.

However, although it was good as a technology, since an implementation was difficult and the yield was not good, I said that I have approached so that the company can gain production again by promoting to Apple the patent technology which can take out a high Performance with crossing the X-axis Y-axis which TPK has uniquely.

Moreover, the technology in which TPK produced and the touch liquid crystal panel of iPad and iPad mini also made the frame segment of iPad mini thin seemed to be the quite difficult thing.
