LogicMagicが、iPhone内部に耐水加工処理をして、水没などによる基盤ショートを防止し、修理可能状態を維持出来る「防水・耐水加工サービス」を始めたということで、実際にどんなものなのか見てきました。

防水ケース「LifeProof iPhone 5 Case」や「OtterBox Armor for iPhone 5」を使用した場合と異なり、LogicMagicの耐水加工は、本体内に水が浸入しても、ロジックボードがショートしないよう内部に透明被膜処理を施すというものだそうです。

さっそく、耐水加工処理を施したiPhone 4をミュージックで楽曲を再生し、ヘッドフォンジャックから繋がるスピーカーで音が鳴っている状態で水槽に入れてもらいました。

この耐水加工処理はSIMカードに対しては行えないため、水槽に入れた段階で圏外になってしまいますが、ミュージックは再生され続け、そのまま持ち上げてもタッチパネル操作が可能でした。

耐水性能を示す「IPX 6」試験を行っているわけではありませんが、洗濯機で耐水加工処理されたiPhoneを回しても、通電およびタッチパネル動作は可能（YouTube）だったそうです。

水槽に入れたiPhone 4の背面パネルを外してみると、本体内に水滴が入っていることが確認出来ます。

いまだサービスが開始されない「modcrew」を待ち続けている方や、海外の「Liquipel」を利用して、水没以外の要因で故障し、修理が出来なかった場合とは異なり、どこが耐水加工されてるか判別出来ないレベル処理のため、普通に修理が出来るというのもポイントだそうです。

耐水加工処理の金額は7,800円、加工処理に約３時間ほど必要だそうです。

現時点で対応加工可能機種は、iPhone 5、iPhone 4S、iPhone 4、iPod nano (6th generation)の４製品で、修理と同時の場合は2,000円引きになるそうです。
